Study Shows Eruptions in Geysers Occur Due To Bend below Surface That Blocks Steam

According to a new study published in the Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, the accuracy of natural geysers to spew water and steam into air is caused by loops and side-chambers present in their plumbing.

Researchers in the study used underground cameras and sensors through which they were able to study eruptions of a geyser. They found out that eruptions in geyser are caused due to a bend or loop below the surface that blocks steam, which heats the water column gradually to near the boiling point.
