Study shows Acupuncture May Not Prove Helpful to Treat Chronic Knee Pain

Researchers concluded that acupuncture may not prove effective for chronic knee pain for middle-aged people. The study shows that real acupuncture that makes use of needles and lasers was not any more helpful than sham acupuncture that is used to treat chronic knee pain among 50 years old or more.

The study’s leading author Rana S. Hinman from the Australia’s University of Melbourne says that it was a bit surprising to know that acupuncture wasn’t effective as compared to sham acupuncture because patients who had chronic knee pain had reported that acupuncture proved good to treat their pain.
