Study Finds Sugar Industry and NIH In Bed Forty Years Ago

In perhaps one of the most shocking studies in recent history researchers out of UCSF have found a cache of industry documents that prove the sugar industry worked very closely with the National Institutes of Health between the 1960s and 1970s to develop a federal research program which could focus on approaches other than sugar to the reduction of tooth decay in American children.

“The dental community has always known that preventing tooth decay required restricting sugar intake,” explains lead study author and UCSF postdoctoral scholar Cristin Kearns.
