The hot springs at Yellowstone National Park are always a popular tourist attraction. But it is not just because of their remarkable heat or natural majesty; people also like to use the beautiful pools as wishing wells.

Well a new study examined that the pools should actually be a brilliant blue color but “microbial mat composition”—a combination of microscopic organisms populating the waters—has changed the color of the pools to something more outrageous.
