Study Determines Dragonflies Are Agile and Nimble Hunters

Quite recently, researchers examined up close the hunting mechanics of the dragonfly and determined that these insects might be far more complex than we thought. In an experiment, a team of researchers with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute let a bunch of dragonflies—equipped with tiny sensors—loose at the Janelia Research Campus. Watching the insects hunt, the researchers were able to determine how complex their internal modes are, based on how they can anticipate the movement of their prey.
