Studies show increase in drug prices outpaces increase in development costs

Economist Joseph DiMasi, the principal investigator on a study released today on the cost to develop a drug from the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development.

The cost to develop a new drug is increasing to the tune of 8.5 percent a year, but the prices of those new drugs are increasing much faster, according to a comparison of two recent studies.
