Student chefs cook up new school lunches

When you are trying to invent a new school lunch, certain facts quickly become apparent. Herbs and spices are your friends. A little fruit juice makes food sweeter. Zucchini is OK. And teamwork is everything.

These were the lessons of seven teams of high school juniors from Houston ISD competing Saturday morning in the local round of Cooking Up Change, a contest run by the Healthy Schools Campaign, a Chicago nonprofit that promotes better eating.
