In a move away from featuring its signature killer whales as entertainment, SeaWorld said Monday that its San Diego theme park will end "theatrical" orca shows next year, replacing stunts with themes more in tune with wildlife conservation.
Orlando-based SeaWorld Entertainment, which made the announcement at an analyst conference, is responding to a five-year controversy about keeping whales in captivity. Negative publicity has hit SeaWorld particularly hard in California.
