Stroke Patients at High Risk for Repeat Stroke for a Long Time

A new study has found that people who have had a stroke are at higher risk for a repeat stroke even after a long time has passed. Specialists followed closely stroke patients for about 90 days after the event, during the time they are considered to experience another stroke. But according to the study, the higher chances of another stroke remain for at least five years.

The study stated that stroke patients have 10% chances of having another stroke, heart attack or dying in the first year. According to researchers of the study, even after five years, the chances of these events gets doubled than the general population.
