From the very first time I heard Max Richter's elegant and stirringly beautiful song "On the Nature of Daylight" I decided that this is the song I want playing at every large event in my life—from my wedding to my funeral. Morbid? No, perfect. It's an incredibly emotive and deeply melancholy song that was first utilized on film with Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island, but now haunts the entirely of Henry-Alex Rubin's narrative feature debut Disconnect.

It may be possible that Rubin loves this song more than I do, which is something I can always admire in a directorial choice.
