Stocks up early after shocking ECB protest

U.S. stocks are higher Wednesday as investors look ahead to the 2 p.m. ET release of the Fed's latest Beige Book report on the economy and market watchers are still buzzing about a stunning protest at an ECB press conference.

As of 10 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones industrial average and S&P 500 are each up in the 0.5% neighborhood. The Nasdaq composite is 0.2% higher.
