As of 12:05 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 447 points, or 2.80% to 15656. The S&P 500 shed 55 points, of 2.94% to 1825 while the Nasdaq Composite tumbled 128 points, or 2.89% to 4347.
The energy sector was the biggest decliner on the session, followed by materials and telecommunications, as all 10 S&P 500 sectors found themselves firmly in negative territory.
