Stewart and Bahari find humor in ‘Rosewater’

When journalist Maziar Bahari chronicled the 118 days he was unjustly incarcerated in an Iranian prison for his 2011 book, “Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival,” he included his interrogator’s peculiar preoccupation with New Jersey. The interrogator specifically became engrossed in tales of mythical massage parlors where more than massages took place.

Jon Stewart jokes that it was this fixation on his home state that made him realize he must turn the book into his screenwriting and directorial debut, “Rosewater,” in theaters now.
