The Rhode Island tax division says about 281 taxpayers using direct debit to pay their 2014 state income tax have been overcharged because of a computer problem.
The Providence Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1Deb79u) state tax administrator David Sullivan said in an email Tuesday that taxes were taken out of some accounts twice. He said those taxpayers will get automatic refunds and the state will also cover any overdraft fees or other charges they incurred.
