Sri Lanka Army deploys troops and heavy machinery to assist landslide rescue operations

Oct 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka Army Wednesday deployed a contingent of over 500 troops from the Security Forces Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) to rescue the buried victims of the landslide that wreaked havoc in the Koslandawatta-Meeriyabedda estate areas of Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat in Badulla district Wednesday morning.

Immediately after the disaster struck the area, the SFHQ-C has deployed first batch of 15 officers and 214 soldiers and later sent 300 more soldiers to conduct the search and rescue.
