Spending on new drugs hits a new high

An analysis presented by Express Scripts states that the number of Americans spending above $100,000 on prescription drugs in a year has increased by three times. Data presented in the analysis said that 576,000 Americans are taking prescription drugs worth more than $50,000 every year, compared to 352,000 Americans spending over $50,000 on prescription drugs in 2013; the jump is a whopping 63%.

The annual bill is inflated due to expensive cancer treatment, hepatitis C treatment and some other new and expensive therapies.
