SpaceX to carry first 3-D printer to ISS

Hawthorne-based SpaceX will soon carry the first 3-D printer to the International Space Station (ISS) to enable astronauts to print replacement parts during long-distance missions in the future.

American space agency NASA's 3-D printing project manager Niki Werkheiser said the first 3-D printer would be sent to space next week, adding that it could revolutionize the existing constrained supply chain model.
