Soft drink colors contain cancer-causing carcinogen: study

Roughly half of the U. S. people over the age of six might be exposing themselves to a cancer-causing carcinogen on a daily basis, a fresh study by researchers from Johns Hopkins University warned.

Previously collected data showed that many sodas with caramel coloring contain the cancer-causing agent 4-methylimidazole (4-MEI). The potentially dangerous compound is produced during manufacturing of caramel color, mostly used in cola drinks.
