The Slap: Did That Rugrat Deserve to Be Slapped?

By now you've seen the first episode of NBC's new miniseries The Slap, or you've heard of NBC's new miniseries The Slap and know that it's about an adult slapping a kid who isn't his, or you're just now hearing about The Slap and none of this really makes sense yet. I previewed the first two episodes, and while the series is mostly a pretentious bore, its main purpose is to make you think about sensitive topics and social issues. And as you've likely already guessed, the series' most divisive element is right there in its name.
