Shrinking Glaciers could lead to extinction of Stonefly

Researchers from the US Geological Survey or USGS, Bucknell University and the University of Montana took stream samples along the mountain streams at Glacier National Park. On analyzing the samples, they discovered that the population of a rare stonefly species has largely been affected by the shrinking glaciers and rising global temperature.

This decrease in population of this stonefly species was observed as only one of the six streams that they checked was inhabited by this insects.
