Thanks to the round-the-clock care from staff at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium, an orphaned five-week-old southern sea otter now has a fair second chance at life. This 2-pound pup had been orphaned and was found in late September on Coastways Beach in California.
The pup is a female otter that is being referred to as Pup 681. The time when the pup was found, she was just a week old. She was immediately taken to the Monterey Bay Aquarium where her condition was stabilized first. Then she was transferred to Shedd that offered to give her a permanent home.
