WASHINGTON - United Launch Alliance's 800 aerospace workers in Decatur, Ala., will apparently dodge an economic missile aimed at the company in a Pentagon spending bill banning the Russian rocket engine ULA uses to lift U.S. national security satellites.

The compromise $577 billion spending bill expected to win final passage in the Senate this weekend still bans Russian RD-180 rocket engines from Defense Department launches.
