Secrets of sticky gecko feet revealed

According to a statement from the American Institute of Physics, Oregon State University researchers found that geckos can turn the “stickiness” of their toe hairs on the pads of their feet on and off, allowing the animals to run at high speeds or cling to ceilings without using much energy.

The researchers published their findings in the Journal of Applied Physics, describing their work exploring the nuances of geckos’ adhesion system mechanism.
