Scientists Uncover Why Missiles Don’t Penetrate the Ground Very Well

Scientists were curious about what happens when a missile or a meteor hits the surface of the Earth. More specifically, they wanted to know what happens beneath the surface; obviously, we know what happens above the surface.

And so, physicist from Duke University have developed new techniques that have allowed them to simulate the same high-speed impacts which could occur, but on artificial soil and sand in a laboratory setting.
