Cosmic dust is the name given to the matter in the universe which are the building blocks for stars. While scientists know it exists, they continue to study it to learn more about how this most ancient of matter continues to survive the hardships of time and space, like supernova explosions.

A new study, which has been published in the journal Science, attempts to explain that primordial stars actually exploded in more dense environments than the “outer space” we know today, and this prevented the dust from being destroyed.
