Scientists reassess the actual sizes of deep ocean animals

There is no denying the fact that sea animals are much bigger and larger than land animals, but giving the wrong impressions of their actual sizes is something a marine biologist, Craig McClain, would not want to go on forever. He knows just as much as anyone that marine animals could be so gigantic in size, but he also found out that most of the quoted sizes are actually exaggerated and quite misleading, leading him to set out to put the records straight on the actual sizes of heavy sea animals like blue whales, great white sharks, giant squids, and giant clams among others.

McClain contacted Meghan Balk of the University of New Mexico and together they recruited other professional colleagues and a team of five undergraduate students to conduct extensive research into existing records and cross-reference verifiable facts.
