Scientists observe Dimming Quasar

A quasar has been observed changing brightness considerably over a few years, for the first time. A dimming quasar, which has been identified by astronomers, is also being called 'black hole on a diet' by some investigators.

Quasars are extremely-energetic objects which emit huge quantities of radiation to the Universe, powered by massive black holes. Researchers from Yale University observed a quasar with a 'changing look', acting like a light bulb attached to a dimmer switch for the first time.
