Scientists ID viruses that could threaten wild bumblebees

Until now, scientists had been able to confirm the spread of only one virus from managed to wild bee populations -- deformed wing virus.

But after analyzing viral loads among bee colonies at 26 sites across Great Britain, biologists found wild bumblebees and managed honeybees share at least five viruses -- black queen cell virus, deformed wing virus, acute bee paralysis virus, slow bee paralysis virus and sacbrood virus.
