Scientists find reason behind Loss of Teeth in Birds

A fossil of the ancient bird Archaeopteryx, found in 1861, indicated that bird ancestors were once having teeth whereas today birds don't have these but have a beak instead.

As per a new study, the common ancestor of all living birds stopped producing teeth due to change in genes of the birds. The genomes of 48 living bird species were analyzed by researchers and they closely examined six genes related to tooth formation.
