Scientists explore underwater world in Northwestern Hawaiian Islands

A whole new underwater world was discovered deep in the coral reefs of Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument.

Scientists returned from the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands with good news and not so good news after their 25-day expedition aboard the Hi'ialakai. Marine life is flourishing but global warming continues to impact coral reefs.
