Schumer Not Satisfied with Cruise Industry "Passenger Bill of Rights"

You can mock Chuck Schumer -- we did -- for press-friendly proposals like his March call for Cruise liners to adopt a “bill of rights” to ensure passengers aren’t stuck on a powerless floating hotel in the middle of Gulf of Mexico, using the deck as a bathroom.

But you can’t call him ineffective. The Cruise Lines International Association, which represents 25 major companies,announced Wednesday that at Schumer’s suggestion, it will adopt a passengers’ bill of rights that guarantees the "safety, comfort and care" of guests.
