After a three-week spring break, Saturday Night Live came back refreshed and funnier than it has been in a while. The always charming Dwayne Johnson hosted last night, armed with his million dollar smile and billion dollar biceps. He proceeded to poke fun at himself, his wrestling career and his role as an action-movie god, and the results were hilarious. But perhaps the most surprising turn of the night was Kate McKinnon’s impersonation of creepy accused murderer and former Houston resident, Robert Durst. It’s so good, I could watch an entire remake of The Jinx starring McKinnon.
The first sketch of the night imagined President Obama’s Hulk-like alter ego, The Rock, taking on his Republican adversaries: Tom Cotton, John Boehner and Texas’ own Ted Cruz (who somehow, remarkably, manages to avoid having his head crushed). And it’s a clever pun! Who doesn’t love puns!
