Sacking Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson is right, but kills the cash cow

Top Gear is the most successful factual television programme in the world, worth $95 million per year to the BBC, so it is a brave director general that takes on its lumbering brontosaurus of a star, Jeremy Clarkson.

It appears that the BBC has decided to sack the presenter, after its investigation found he did attack a producer when told he couldn't have his steak and chips because the kitchen of the hotel they were staying in had closed for the night.
