Rylance's Cromwell crowns a magnificent 'Wolf Hall'

We've been told the story of Henry VIII from many different vantage points: most often from Henry's, from any number of his wives and lovers, and, in the Oscar-winning film A Man for All Seasons, from Thomas More's. But we've never seen the story from the point of view of Henry's adviser Thomas Cromwell, who is usually a villain, and Cromwell has never been played on TV before by Tony winner Mark Rylance.

With PBS' Wolf Hall (Sunday, 10 p.m. ET/PT, * * * * out of four),that combination makes all the splendid difference.
