Russian Spy’s Death in London Still a Mystery Eight Years Later

More than eight years after the murder of a former Russian spy in London, a U.K. inquiry will try to unravel the mysteries surrounding his death against a backdrop of the worst relations between the countries in decades.

The 10-week inquiry into Alexander Litvinenko’s 2006 death, after he consumed a fatal dose of polonium-210 hidden in a pot of tea, will begin in London Tuesday. The key issue will be what role the Russian government played in the dissident’s death.
