In Russia, Oscar-nominated 'Leviathan' opens old wounds

TERIBERKA, RUSSIA — The Russian movie Leviathan has been enjoying the spotlight ever since its Oscar nomination for best foreign film last month.

But for the residents of Teriberka, the northern settlement where it was filmed, the movie casts an embarrassing spotlight of its own on some of Russia's most persistent ills: corruption, economic decay and alcoholism.
