Routine Vitamin D Screening Unsupported

There is not enough evidence that vitamin D screening is beneficial in routine practice and therefore it can't be recommended, according to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.

Following an extensive literature review, the group said the exact threshold that defines vitamin D deficiency isn't well established, and the association between vitamin D status and health outcomes isn't clear, according to Michael LeFevre, MD, MSPH, of the University of Missouri, and colleagues.
