Was Rosetta success hugely lucky? ESA believes Philae struck a crater, tumbled across comet

It’s a miracle that Philae landed right side up and was able to complete its scientific objectives if ESA’s findings are correct.

As time passes, more information continues to trickle in about Philae’s dramatic landing on the surface of a comet last month — including the startling possibility that the lander clipped a crater and went tumbling.
