Romania’s presidential race was too close to call as frontrunner Prime Minister Victor Ponta and Liberal Party leader and ethnic German mayor Klaus Johannis were tied in exit polls.
Two exit polls showed Social-Democrat Ponta winning, with two others giving Johannis the victory. All polls were within the margin of error. Ponta had a 10 percentage-point lead over Johannis in the first election round two weeks ago.
