Italian surgeon, Dr. Serigio Canavero gained a lot of attention in the medical community with his idea – chopping one’s head off and fusing it with a different body. Although it may sound like an unrealistic science-fiction novel, it seems like neurosurgery is about to take a leap. Russian computer scientist, Valery Spiridonov announced that he will become the subject of the first human head transplant ever performed, saying he volunteers to have his head removed and installed on another person’s body.

The 30-year old man from Russia, who is battling the rare genetic muscle wasting disorder called Werdnig-Hoffman(aka spinal muscular atrophy), is already without the use of his legs.
