Review: In 'Woman in Gold' Helen Mirren sues to recover Nazi-looted artwork

"Woman in Gold" presents a very good story that's too meekly told. Its a fact-based dramatization, rendered mostly in flat tones and trite dialogue, about one woman's herculean effort to recover art looted from her family by the Nazis.

A good rule of thumb for any screenwriter, in this case character actor-turned-writer Alexi Kaye Campbell, is never to give a regal, Oscar-winning actress like Helen Mirren trifling lines such as: "Ach, come, have some strudel -- I made it especially for you," which her character, Maria Altmann, say...
