Researchers reveal possible source of mysterious ‘diffuse interstellar bands’

Innumerable small molecules plunge quietly through the boundless, desolate regions of interstellar space. The American Institute of Physics reports that these molecules account for a major quantity of all the carbon, hydrogen, silicon and other atoms in the universe.
