Researchers from Cornell University have provided the first detailed data regarding New York subway's microbes. They have identified more than 1,688 types of bacteria. In fact, DNA fragments linked to anthrax and bubonic plague have also been found.
But there is no need to worry as majority of the bacteria found is harmless. It is said that 1.7 billion people travel each year on 600 miles of track in passenger service in America's largest city.
