Researchers from Janelia Research Campus win first prize in 2014 Olympus BioScapes Digital Imaging Competition

The top prize of the annual Olympus Bioscapes international digital imaging competition, which celebrates astonishing images and movies of life captured with light microscopes, went to a video of a drosophila (fly) embryo.

The footage was captured by Dr. William Lemon, Fernando Amat and Dr. Philipp Keller, of HHMI Janelia Research Campus, in Ashburn. They recorded the video at 30-second intervals and traced the development of a fruit fly embryo over 24 hours.
