Research team finds an animal who is a common ancestor to the horse and rhino

Recently a team of researchers had found fossils for an animal that has common ancestry with the horse and rhino. The fossil was originally found in India and belongs to a group of animals named ‘Perissodactyls’. The researchers had started digging around in Gujarat, India believing that Perissodactyla had originated from there, for the first time in history bones from an animal with a common ancestor with horses and rhinos had been found.

Perissodactyla animals are referred to as odd-toed ungulates which means that they have an odd number of toes on their back legs.
