Reports: At least 27 killed in Baghdad area bombings

At least 27 people were killed Thursday in two separate car bombings in the Baghdad area, according to media reports.

At least 15 civilians were killed and around 35 injured when a car bomb exploded in a commercial area of New Baghdad, a Shiite area in the east of the Iraqi capital, the Associated Press reported. The Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL, claimed responsibility.
