The leader of the Islamic State in Afghanistan — a former Pakistani Taliban spokesman — has been killed in a U.S. drone strike, according to local media reports.
Afghan broadcaster TOLOnews, citing the National Directorate of Security (NDS), reported that Shahidullah Shahid died in an attack in Nangarhar Province, eastern Afghanistan.
