Emmanuel Macron resigned from his job as President Francois Hollande’s economy minister, fueling speculation he’s planning to enter the race to replace his former boss next year.
Finance Minister Michel Sapin will take over Macron’s duties on the economy and industry file, Hollande’s spokesman said by telephone. Macron, 38, will make a statement and pass his powers to Sapin at 5:45 p.m. Paris time.
