Red Wine Helps to Burn Fat, Study Suggests

Latest study has unveiled that drinking red wine or red grape juice in moderation can help in burning fat. The study has been published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry. Neil Shay, biochemist and molecular biologist at the Oregon State University in the United States stated “We did not expect, and we did not find, these compounds to improve body weight.” Red wine or juice augments the fat burning ability of liver. In overweight people, it might also improve liver function. However, the study does not indicate that drinking wine leads to miraculous weight loss. Shay commented “If we could develop a dietary strategy for reducing the harmful accumulation of fat in the liver, using common foods like grapes, then it would be good news.”

For the study, human liver and fat cells grown in the lab were exposed to the extracts of four natural chemicals found in Muscadine grapes.
