Recreating the colors of Yellowstone's Hot Springs

Yellowstone National Park is known for its geothermal activity including geysers and colorful hot springs. The source of the color has long been understood and is explained by the microbial populations present in the springs. In a recent study researchers have create a simple, yet powerful mathematical model which they used to recreate Yellowstone’s hot springs.
